A relative newcomer to the literary world, Johanna Gedraitis published her first novel only this past November. Her training, strangely enough, has been mostly in the visual arts, having received her BFA in painting from Fort Hays State University. She has shown her works in Hays, Wichita, and Topeka, where she can truthfully say she has sold more than Van Gough did in his lifetime. Emmy Jackson is the author of the post-apocalyptic urban fantasy novel Empty Cradle: The Untimely Death of Corey Sanderson. He lived as a nomad in an RV for three years, wandering the continental United States at will. He was born and raised in and around Detroit and always returns no matter how many times he moves away. He is an ex-school bus driver, an ex-marketing manager, and a self-published, self-syndicated freelance writer. Emmy speaks the secret language of cars, is a rescuer of things, and enjoys dancing, collecting toy cars and traveling to visit new goth clubs.
Jim Gettys is a MTS at Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, working on bufferbloat. He was the V.P. of Software at the One Laptop per Child project. He is one of the original developers of the X Window System at MIT. He worked at W3C and was the editor of the HTTP/1.1 specification in the IETF. Gettys helped establish handhelds.org, freedesktop.org and X.org.
Gettys is one of the keepers of the Flame (USENIX's 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award) on behalf of The X Window System Community at Large.
