The wider culture has some negative idea about various fandoms. People can be viewed as obsessive and their fandom creations (art, fanfic, fanvid, etc.) as creepy. This panel will examine these assumptions and discuss the ways in which fandom allows people to focus and express their creativity. Other topics in this roundtable discussion may include how fandoms build communities, the manner in which "living legends" come into existence, and the creation of new material from original sources.
